When I look at you

Why do I see me—Not you

When I look in the mirror

Why do I see you— Not me

It’s pretty simple— really

So simple that when you see her wearing mom jeans and a flannel so you start wearing mom jeans and flannels

So simple that you noticed he keeps saying that phrase so you are going to start saying that phrase

So simple that you took one part of him and one part of her

Just so you can be — you

But it’s my turn now

It’s my turn to be your “inspiration“

Because it’s going through circulation

That you have this fascination

And you have this desperation

And this fixation

Just to fit in— Just to fit in

Your clothes— replicates mine

Your interests— replicates mine

Your attitude— replicates mine

Everything about you rooted from everything about me

Because everything about me is everything you have to be

Mimicking became your addiction

You need someones direction

Just so you can get affection

Just so you can get this connection

And you think— it’s all perfection

Your whole life is one big Simon Says game

Simon says jump, you jump

Simon says cry, you cry

Simon says laugh, you laugh

But what are you going to do when there isn’t anyone to say “Simon Says” anymore

You’ve lost sight of who you are

Becoming a mere copy just to fit in

But nothing can be done

Until you stripped down everyone else

— and become— yourself.
