Adam

In the Bible he’s the first man ever created

The Hebrew translation is to be red

A simple name that many own

But the life attached to that name differs for many.

Adam

When the sun is up

His life is filled with simplicity

A high school U.S History substitute

The only chaos to him is the hormonal teenagers getter ruder and ruder each day

Adam

But when the sun is down

The FBI agent in him comes out

Reflecting on his day

Collecting all the clues

He doesn’t catch a break

Same man, different lives

But when put together

An undercover agent, posing as a substitute

Fighting the crime that takes place in these high school halls

Trying to stop whoever allowed the kids to drug up their mind

Flashback to the past

At 10 years old

Drugs ruined his life

Consumed by his mother and father

Leaving him to fend for himself

He hated the monster

The monster his parents became

He wanted them to stop

He couldn’t get them to stop

He was too weak

He knows the risks

He knows the struggles

But he’ll do anything to save the future of these kids

He won’t let them become a monster

He won’t let them lose their minds

The monster won’t be freed anymore

Adam

A simple man

With a challenging task

He grew up with monsters

To now fighting them back

He’s not scared anymore

He’s not alone anymore.

Here is the slam poem I had to write and perform for my AP Lit class, this isn't about anyone I know but I thought the idea was interesting.
